This position has responsibility for the management of the Client Finance department. This position is also the liaison with 360i and Firstborn leadership.

This position is jointly responsible with the Controller for the following functions: budgeting, financial statements, all areas of agency working capital including billing, accounts receivable collections, and accounting procedures.

The Finance Director is responsible for taking a leading role in partnering with the agency’s leadership on business direction and strategy, organizational structure, client relationships, fee negotiations, cost containment, and setting staffing levels.  This position oversees the implementation of special client billing arrangements, and develops and maintains quality relationships with their client purchasing departments in partnership with the CFO.

In order to perform these functions, the Finance Director must have significant accounting and business experience in the advertising/communications business, be comfortable in legal discussions and have leadership experience in a computerized medium-sized agency. A strong negotiating background is helpful but not required.


The Finance Director must set correct priorities, organize a department for maximum efficiency, partner closely with the agency leadership and other senior managers, communicate well with upper management, peers, subordinates, clients, and other offices, and have a great deal of computer aptitude and business sense.  The Finance Director will be a visible, vocal contributory member of the agency’s management team and a loud proponent of the vision, direction and philosophy of the agency.



Management of local office financial operations

Partnership with 360i CEO management team to manage account profitability and working capital performance
Pricing of services to existing accounts within 360i established ranges
Integration with new business team on local office pitches
Pricing of services on local new business opportunities
Supplier negotiations
Client contract reviews (1st) on existing business (i.e., renewals) and new business opportunities with no OMC partnerships and/or annual fee potential < $3 million, or local currency equivalent, all within established framework Budgeting/forecasting and financial reporting & analysis Adherence to network information requests / reporting calendar Tracking and financial management of office, services, investment and other KPI activities Support of network financial management with respect to legal and regulatory / compliance issues Financial management reporting, including:

Monthly P&L reviews
Monthly BS review
Monthly client financial reviews with Account Leads
Monthly utilization reviews with Department Heads


Business Development

Work with new business and account teams to prepare the answers to RFIs, RFPs and regional/global pitches
Support management for negotiations on contract terms and conditions

Finance Staff Management

Design organizational structure and recruit / train staff to deliver on the needs and expectations of the agency and clients
Ensure the staff delivers against operational, reporting and general accounting needs
Hire qualified staff and work within the agency philosophy for development of Finance Staff


Prepares and monitors annual and rolling forecasts
Analyze variances from budgets and focus management’s attention to potential opportunities and threats
Works with agency leadership to maximize business opportunities for revenue and margin growth
Works with agency leadership to identify and implement corrective action where appropriate
Maintenance and control of compensation budget, including salary, T&B, freelance and bonus pools
Provide supporting data for centralized Balance Sheet budgeting and forecasting
Partner with the CFO in the development, maintenance & control of the annual capital expenditure budget

Client Accounting

Oversee timely billing of clients (fees, labor and billable expenses)
Ensure contract compliance on all client operational elements (includes billing, estimate approval, PO issuance, insurance, confidentiality, etc.)
Establish Client relationships and enforce internal controls for ensuring Client contractual compliance
Prepare monthly WIP accrual recommendations
Partner with other Network Finance Directors to maximize processing efficiencies and ensure consistent communication with shared clients

Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual Close

Ensure proper recognition of revenue, prepare income accrual/deferrals as necessary
Establish procedures within the Finance Team to allow for proper checks and balances as part of any close
Complete all closes within the schedule and parameters as issued from the Network
Prepare and circulate internal reports as agreed with agency leadership



Has primary responsibility for timely collection of receivables and achievement of working capital targets
Internal audit responsibility for adherence to DAN policies and procedures
Support independent financial audits initiated by the Network as directed by the CFO
Take leading role in any client directed audits as agreed with the CFO
Assist as needed to manage client audits
Partner with Corporate Finance team to improve working capital
Work with CFO on any other projects as may be identified

Must demonstrate a proven track record of:

Strong interpersonal and communication skills
High degree of quality situational analysis and decision making skill
Ability to manage budgets and tight deadlines
Ability to work autonomously and proactively
Highly organized and effective approach to work and staff management


Bachelor Degree in Accounting / Finance from accredited college / university
MBA and/or CPA a plus, not required
Experience at a fairly senior level in a publicly traded company
6+ years’ experience within an Agency and network ideal
Minimum of 10 Years total experience
Demonstration of developed business acumen
